Accreditation

Niagara University in Ontario is accredited by the Middle States Commission of Higher Education.

Accreditation is a voluntary, non-governmental peer review process overseen by the higher education community that aims to ensure academic quality and accountability and to encourage improvement.

In addition to institutional accreditation, many of NU at Ontario’s programs are approved or recognized by state and national organizations.

The Office of University Planning and Assessment is available to assist programs, departments and colleges with their accreditation related needs, usually by assisting with program assessment, data gathering and reporting.

Middle States Commission on Higher Education

Niagara University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (3624 Market Street, 2nd Floor West, Philadelphia, PA 19104). Individual faculties also hold major accreditations from the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), The Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB).

Bachelor of Professional Studies in Education (BPS)

The Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) is an Ontario agency that makes recommendations to the Minister of Colleges and Universities of Ontario on applications for ministerial consent under the terms of the Post-secondary Education Choice and Excellence Act, 2000.

Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)

The OCT is responsible for the accreditation of teaching programs throughout the province and ensure all teaching programs in Ontario follow ethical and practice standards and guidelines. The College accredits in-service programs that lead to additional qualifications for teachers, principals and supervisory officers.

Business Administration (AACSB)

The fundamental purpose of AACSB accreditation is to encourage business schools to hold themselves accountable for improving business practice through a commitment to strategic management, learner success, thought leadership, and societal impact.

Niagara University has been granted a consent by the Minister of Colleges and Universities to offer degree programs. Prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate to their needs (e.g., acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies or other educational institutions).
