Zoom and Google Meet are cloud-based video conferencing platforms that can be used for video meetings, audio conferencing, webinars, meeting recordings, and live chat.

Video Conferencing Software

Zoom

Zoom Video Conferencing is available to all Niagara University in Ontario faculty, staff, and students. The platform can be used independently or integrated within Canvas and Gmail. All employees are provided with full Zoom licenses.

If you plan to use Zoom for your classes, you can access it directly through Canvas. In your Canvas course menu, you’ll see a link labelled “ZoomProd”, which takes you to a list of your scheduled Zoom meetings. From there, you can schedule new meetings or join existing ones.

Google Meets

Google Meet is also available to all Niagara University in Ontario faculty, staff, and students as part of the university’s Google Workspace tools. Google Meet allows users to host and join video meetings directly from their web browser or through integrations in Gmail and Google Calendar. It’s a convenient option for quick meetings, office hours, or collaboration with students and colleagues—no separate software installation is required.
