This Fund was established on February 25, 2020 by Fazzari + Partners, Chartered Professional Accountants (“FP”) with an initial donation for the purpose of honoring the commitment and leadership of Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua including his effort in establishing Niagara University in the City of Vaughan.
A maximum of three scholarships to three students at $5,000 (CAD) each shall be awarded annually to deserving students who are enrolled in and/or are attending Niagara University Vaughan. In no case will this award, combined with any other financial aid provided to the recipient, be in excess of the cost of tuition and fees. This award is intended as an academic award.
A one-time award of $5000 (CAD) shall be made at the beginning of each academic year to up to a maximum of three students pursuing their degree at Niagara University in any program offered at its location in Vaughan. An award committee consisting of three persons representing the Office of the Mayor, the donor and the University will review and decide upon the awards.
Students applying for the award will be required to submit an essay of a maximum of 500 words addressing the following criteria:
How has the applicant lived a life of public service and why does he or she believe this is important to his or her educational and professional life goals?
The selection process will begin in May of the year preceding the fall semester and continue until the funds are expended. Each application will be independently and holistically assessed by each committee member based on strength of content, style and conventions. Upon completion of the reviews the committee will convene to discuss the applications and decide upon the recipients. Decisions will be made by the whole committee and forwarded to the Director of Financial Aid to convey to the student. The decision of the committee is final and not subject to appeal.
