This Fund was established on February 25, 2020 by Fazzari + Partners, Chartered Professional Accountants (“FP”) with an initial donation for the purpose of honoring the commitment and leadership of Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua including his effort in establishing Niagara University in the City of Vaughan.
A maximum of three scholarships to three students at $5,000 (CAD) each shall be awarded annually to deserving students who are enrolled in and/or are attending Niagara University in Vaughan. In no case will this award, combined with any other financial aid provided to the recipient, be in excess of the cost of tuition and fees. This award is intended as an academic award.
A one-time award of $5000 (CAD) shall be made at the beginning of each academic year to up to a maximum of three students pursuing their degree at Niagara University in any program offered at its location in Vaughan. An award committee consisting of three persons representing the Office of the Mayor, the donor and the University will review and decide upon the awards.
Students applying for the award will be required to submit an essay of a maximum of 500 words addressing the following public service question:
- How have you lived a life of public service and why do you believe this is important to the your educational and professional life goals?

The selection process will begin in May of the year preceding the fall semester and continue until the funds are expended. Each application will be independently and holistically assessed by each committee member based on strength of content, style and conventions. Upon completion of the reviews the committee will convene to discuss the applications and decide upon the recipients. Decisions will be made by the whole committee and forwarded to the Director of Financial Aid to convey to the student. The decision of the committee is final and not subject to appeal.
Applications for the 2022-2023 Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua Scholarship will close on August 19th. Scholarship winners will be contacted the week of October 10th.
Niagara University's Ontario Teacher Education Fund annually provides three scholarships of up to $2,000 each to students who are in their first semester of study in the Bachelor of Professional Studies Program offered in Ontario.
The applications are due towards the end of the first semester of study. The scholarships are awarded at the beginning of the second semester and applied to the tuition for that semester.
Questions about this scholarship should be directed to the Chair for the Faculty of Education, Bachelor of Professional Studies in Education program.
In order to be eligible for this scholarship a student must be enrolled as a full-time student in the Bachelor of Professional Studies Program at Niagara University, have demonstrated academic excellence with a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the end of the first semester of study, and be in good academic standing.

- Submissions will be received up to 5:00 pm on December 2.
Applications will be reviewed, and the winners determined by the Ontario Teacher Education Fund Scholarship Award Committee. Decisions are final and not subject to appeal. The Committee reserves the right to refuse assistance to any applicants who have made false statements on their applications.
