Minimum Degree Fee for Business Programs


All students registered in Niagara University in Ontario programs offered in Canada must pay a minimum degree fee, which is based upon the full-time program length for each program. The minimum degree fee for the Graduate Business programs are the fee associated with four semesters of full-time study. The minimum degree fee represents the minimum amount of tuition that every student, whether registered full-time or part-time, must have paid upon completion of the program prior to graduation. Where, at the end of a student’s program, the total amount of academic fees that have been paid during the time the student was registered in the program is less than the minimum degree fee for that program, the student will be required to pay a balance of degree fee, which is equivalent to the difference between the minimum degree fee and the fees paid by the student. The balance of degree fee is assessed and presented to the student prior to the student’s graduation.

This will ensure that a student who undertakes his or her studies on a part-time basis is required to pay at least the same amount of tuition for his or her degree as a full-time student. Part-time students who do not pay full-time tuition fees throughout their program and full-time students who accelerate their programs and complete the degree requirements in less time than the specified program length (four semesters of study) must also pay a balance of degree fee. Students who, due to the time taken to complete their degree requirements, have paid more than the minimum degree fee will not be refunded any fees. Further, fees which have been paid as a non-degree student (whether at Niagara University in Ontario or another institution) will not be counted towards the minimum degree fee. Required minimum degree fees are not reduced through advanced standing in a program that has been achieved through the transfer of graduate academic credits.

Program length for the degree program is determined by the home faculty under which the program is offered. It is the responsibility of the student to check with the faculty offering the program of study to determine the minimum degree fee.
